Ti-ti-ti La So Fa, Mi-mi-mi-mi re do

Last week’s Friday 10 — well, really the Friday 10 from two weeks ago — has had its answers posted! And, of course, you can also hear the answers in this handy YouTube playlist of all 11 songs (including the super extra secret bonus point). Eight out of ten songs were identified, with John and Frodis Caper tied at three songs each and Fred chiming in with two.

One of the songs listed was from one of my favorite nerdy rock bands, Tears for Fears — one of the best bands to ever be formed by a duo who met in the same primal scream therapy class. It has a very 1980’s video, with one of my favorite Literal Video Versions ever.

Let’s get back to identifying lyrics, right? I’m going to hit shuffle on my music player, and post 10 lyrics that come up. You then get in the comments and identify the artist and the song!

The rules beyond that are simple. 1 — don’t search for the lyrics, answer from memory. 2 — You have to get somewhat close to the song title. 3 — You can get full credit for identifying a cover version, but I have to be able to find that cover.

  1. Seems like things are gettin’ so bad that you can smell it
  2. But whose shoes would you be in? Wake up, it’s time to respect the Nubian

  8. I’ll hit the ceiling, or else I’ll tear up this town
    Kenny Loggins, “Footloose” 📺

  9. Arrogance, but not conceit — as a man, he is complete
  10. The whole world hinges on your swings, your secret life of indiscreet discretions

  1. #2 lives in my head as “No master plan, no master race” which is probably not the title but maybe it’s in there somewhere. 3rd Bass, but not a base for sliding.

#3 is Ticket to Ride, Beatles

    #6 Possession, Sarah McLachlan

#7 You’re So Vain, Carly Simon
