Only as Free as a Padlocked Prison Door

A Ugandan woman with close-cropped hair stands with her back toward the camera, dressed in a brightly-colored and patterned coat.

Last week we saw three lyrics identified (plus the bonus point) — HL identified “If I Were a Boy” by Beyoncé, Two9A identified Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA,” and Thud claimed the victory by identifying “I’m Tired” as performed by Madeline Kahn and the bonus point with Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors.”

There was a theme to that list, as every person who showed up in the list either was associated with Dolly Parton or Tim Curry (or was, in fact, Dolly Parton or Tim Curry). Among the unidentified was one of my favorite fictional hit songs, Max Modem with “Alien Heart.”

And now, it’s time to get in the comments! 10 new lyrics have been posted, and you can hop in the comments to identify the artist and the song. You have to get both, and remember that it should come off the top of your head. And if you identify a different artist than I was listening to, don’t fret! As long as I can find that cover, you still get the point!

  1. Or maybe we could try a little sabotage underneath the paving stones
  2. Madam, I’m Adam — Too hot to hoot
  3. You been steppin’ round with a beetle named John
  4. I see you’ve got your fist out — say your piece and get out
  5. One sunny day, the world was waiting for a lover
  6. I’m not a gangster tonight — don’t want to be a bad guy
  7. He makes it roar so lively just to see his girlfriend smile
  8. It was a light comin’ down from the sky, I don’t know who or why
  9. Underneath the clifftop, hanging by her teeth, this girl will find adventure
  10. Maybe you ain’t walked on any highway, you’ve just been flyin’ in the air
