Where is the Guy Who Makes the Rocket Start?

Rays of light in bright blue, red, and purple radiate from a sparkling white point in the middle of a black field.

The answers for last week have been posted on the original post, and on this handy YouTube playlist! Fred walked away with the victory as the only person who identified a lyric — the guy knows his Dobie Gray.

On the list last week was “Cleo and Tony” by Virginia local artist stalwarts Eddie From Ohio. Singer/Songwriter Robbie Schaefer once credited their long-lasting run as indie folk rockers — which included gigs all over the country and major music festivals with a string of studio and live albums — to being centered in Northern Virginia near Washington, D.C., “a place everyone wants to move to, and once they’re there they can’t wait to move away.”

Let’s get into this week’s lyrics now! Get in the comments and remember: No googlin’, you have to land somewhere close to the artist and the title, and you get it automatically if you identify a different cover version that I can easily find and confirm.

  1. Here as defending champion, I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    8. “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” from Mary Poppins
    10. “Rehab” by Amy Winehouse

And I’m going to kick myself when I finally remember the name of #9.

  2. 2 is “Summertime” by … gosh, was he still going by “The Fresh Prince” then or was it Will Smith? And I’m not sure if DJ Jazzy Jeff was involved. I can complete that whole verse in my head though.
9 is “The Look” by Roxette

    1. They were, in fact, still working as DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince! I remember the video debuted following an episode of “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” and it was advertised for a couple of weeks in advance as a major network event. Built around an awesome Kool & The Gang sample, it won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group that year.
