Still Mad as Hell, and I Don’t Have Time

Last week we managed five lyrics — not a bad showing on this blog! Fred locked down two of them, as did John — and HL swung in to identify one more! The answers, as always, can be heard (and some seen) in this handy YouTube playlist.

One of the songs that didn’t get identified was John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High” — which, I’ll be honest, I thought any line from that song would have been a dead giveaway. But maybe I heard a lot more John Denver as a kid than other people did.

And now it’s time for this week’s 10! If you know the title and the artist, get in the comments and let me know! Remember: No searching for the answers (not on Google, not on Kagi, not on any LLM), and if you name a different artist, I’ll give you credit for the guess — but only if it’s a cover of the song that I can find.

  1. I’m all strung out, my heart is fried — I just can’t get you off my mind (2010)
  2. If you walk without rhythm, ah, you’ll never learn (2001)

  3. So why dispute me and waste my time? Because you really think the price is high for me (1992)
  4. Funk not only moves, it can re-move, dig? (1975)
  5. If good looks was a minute, you know that you could be the hour (1964)

  6. When life looks like Easy Street, there is danger at your door (1970)

  7. Comin’ down with the Dow Jones, when the clouds come — we go (2007)
  8. Them baggy sweatpants and the Reeboks with the straps (2007)

  1. Gosh, #4 is killing me. Is it Parliament? Funkadelic? Parliament-Funkadelic? I think Parliament. And maybe the song is Mothership Connection?
