Last week’s Friday 10 wound up with three lyrics identified — two by Fred, and one by John! This week, a new 10 are up for grabs!
Merrill Bainbridge’s “Mouth” was one of the unidentified lyrics last week, and I was honestly surprised when I learned it was from 1994. In my mind, it’s a very 1999 song — but that’s probably because that was the year I heard it in concerts from no fewer than three different college a cappella groups. Why was I at three different a cappella concerts that year? Because I like a cappella groups, and I was in college.
It was also shortly before college a cappella groups started making sure that everything they did got uploaded to the internet to be there forever, so unfortunately I can’t find *any* of those versions (Virginia Tech’s Soulstice did a great job with it, trust me). But I can find a ukulele cover on YouTube from 14 years ago, and isn’t that just as good?
Now it’s time for this week’s 10! If you recognize the lyrics, get in the comments with the title and artist! Beyond that, the rules are simple. No searching the lyrics to find the answer — do it off the top of the dome — and know that if you identify a different cover than I was listening to, I will give you credit. However, the cover has to be one I can find. (I think it’s awesome you were there that one Halloween in 2004 when Phish whipped it out as an unexpected part of their set, but unless it’s among their million-billion live albums, I can’t count it.)

And is #10 “The Way” by Fastball?
Nicely done! #5 is actually Cher’s cover, although both versions are on my music player. And #10 is correct, too!
