At long last, the answers for last week’s Friday 10 have been posted — both on the original post, and in a handy YouTube playlist!
Among the songs was “There She Goes,” made popular in the US by Christian act-gone-mainstream Sixpence None The Richer. But it was first released in 1988 by The La’s. Their version peaked on the UK charts at 53, and a remix a couple of years later made it as high as 13.
Every week, I hit shuffle on my music player and post 10 lyrics, and you get in the comments and identify the artist and title! Remember, no searching the answers, get at least close to the answer, and I’ll give you credit for a cover version but only if I can find it. Cool? Cool.
And, babe, don’t you know it’s a pity the days can’t be like the nights

5. “Wild” by Poe
I’m pretty sure I know #3 and #6 too but can’t place them.
Nicely done! This version of “Summer in the City” was recorded by Joe Cocker, but correctly identified as having been done by The Loving Spoonful originally (and most famously)! And of course I can always count on you to identify Poe when she surfaces in these lists.
– 1: Summer in the City, Lovin’ Spoonful
– 4: U Can’t Touch This – MC Hammer
– 8: Killer Queen – Queen. Includes the bizarre lyric “dynamite with her laser beams.”
– 10: Men in Black – Will Smith
Fred’s comment was caught in my approval queue, so he was a bit earlier than you in catching “Summer in the City,” but full points on all of the other three!
