Welcome back to this blog’s regular Friday feature (for six weeks running!) — the Friday 10! For those of you joining us for the first time, every Friday I put my music player on shuffle and take the first ten songs to pop up. I post a lyric from each one, and you guess the artist and the song in the comments. If you’re first and you’re right, you get your name added to the post! (And the satisfaction of a job well done.)

I hit shuffle on this player. This one here.
There are a couple of supplementary rules:
- No Searching. Not on Google, not on Genius — you’re on the honor system, here.
- Get Close to the Title. I use “Um, Actually” rules. If you’re somewhere in the neighborhood, you get credit unless someone else gets closer before the deadline.
- Covers Get Credit. But only ones that are easy to find. “There’s a local band named Timothy Leary’s Left Nostril that does an awesome fifteen-minute jam on this song” is great knowledge and thank you for supporting local music, but it’s probably not enough for a point.
And if 10 lyrics isn’t enough to sate you, my brother has also been running this game every week!
Edit: And, if you want to check out the results from last week, they’re right here!
The Lyrics
- He buzzes like a fridge. He’s like a detuned radio.
- And if you rearrange the letters in both our names, you get one away from “Normal.”
- The singer’s gonna sing a song, and he wants you all to sing along. Guessed by John
The Beatles, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”
https://youtu.be/VtXl8xAPAtA?si=mFvg05h6tAwzmyGi - The will of the people won’t stand in my way! How can I tell you how deeply I’ll make them all bleed?
- Get you where you wanna go, if you know what I mean – got a ride that’s smoother than a limousine.
- You’ve heard me say that smoking was my only vice.
- Man, I’m like a young gun, fully black Barack — I cried teardrops over the Massive Attack.
- How I work seven days but underrated — got a milli on the clock, but I feel jaded.
- I can’t forget, I am my sole architect — I built the shadows here.
- Oh, I don’t know what to do about this dream and you.
